Calle José María Morelos 5, Bernal, Querétaro, Mexico
HOUSE FOR 6 GUESTS - Casa Bernal is a secluded architectural retreat set at the foot of Peña de Bernal, a monumental rock formation that has shaped the landscape and identity of the region for centuries. Surrounded by volcanic stone, desert vegetation, and centuries-old ruins, the property was designed as a place to disconnect, slow down, and experience the landscape in a deeply immersive way. Blending Mexican brutalism with the warmth and character of a traditional hacienda, the house combines raw concrete, natural stone, wood, and handcrafted details to create spaces that feel both monumental and intimate. Throughout the property, floor-to-ceiling openings, courtyards, and terraces frame ever-changing views of the monolith, creating a constant dialogue between architecture and nature. At the heart of the experience is a concrete pool carved into the stone landscape, surrounded by terraces designed for quiet contemplation, long afternoons in the sun, and evenings gathered around the fire beneath star-filled skies. Inside, expansive living spaces are balanced by serene bedrooms conceived as peaceful retreats from the outside world. More than a destination, Casa Bernal is an invitation to inhabit time differently. Whether gathering with friends, seeking creative inspiration, or simply escaping the pace of everyday life, guests will find a place where architecture, landscape, and silence come together in remarkable harmony.
