La Partoucie, 16500, Confolens, France
5-BEDROOM GUESTHOUSE AND 1 SELF-CATERING COTTAGE FOR RENT "The main residence, typically Charentaise and built of granite, was redesigned in the 18th century. Surrounded by a century-old wisteria with its sweet fragrance, we have sought to preserve the charm and spirit of a family home. On the ground floor, you will find a large dining room with its period terracotta-tile floor and an impressive fireplace. A charming small sitting room, lit by the gilding of an antique mirror, leads to the main entrance and its modern staircase serving the rooms, which face due south overlooking the garden. The old lodge is the vestige of the 15th-century feudal manor. In this long building, entirely restored with refinement and modernity, the ground floor features a large ivory-toned living room whose wide south-facing openings transport guests into a cocoon of greenery. Adjacent, a terrace set amid the moat opens onto a scene suspended between earth and sky, bathed in the reflections of the water, the song of frogs or the hoarse cry of a startled heron. Indoors and out, the sitting room and terrace invite you to linger and meditate before the marvellous spectacle of nature. A stay at the Domaine de la Partoucie allows you to disconnect and let yourself be enveloped by the nature and romance of the place. Around the moat and beneath the plane trees, in a romantic setting, sun loungers, benches and a hammock invite relaxation, meditation or quiet contemplation. At the far end of the park, the estate's pond (1.5 hectares) is perfect for a leisurely stroll, a rest or a picnic under the centuries-old oak trees." - Fabienne & Michel
