San Simón el Alto, Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico, Mexico
Hidden in the forests of San Simón, just outside Valle de Bravo, Mi Cielo is an off-grid retreat designed to reconnect with nature. Accessible by winding country roads that pass through fields and pine forests, the property offers a sense of seclusion and simplicity from the moment of arrival. Built with locally sourced pine and stone, Mi Cielo is composed of several independent cabins and a larger barn-style house, each thoughtfully integrated into the landscape. Though united by a common architectural language, every space has its own character, shaped by its design, interiors, and relationship to the surrounding forest. Entirely powered by solar energy, the project embraces a low-impact approach through rainwater harvesting and composting systems. Modern distractions are intentionally kept to a minimum, inviting guests to slow down and reconnect with their surroundings. A vegetable garden, outdoor kitchen, and a natural pool fed by mountain springs create a setting where nature takes center stage and life unfolds at a gentler pace. A wood-fired sauna near the pond completes the experience, offering a simple yet restorative ritual immersed in the landscape.
